“That’s an easy job.”

Updated: Oct 8, 2021

No job is “easy.” That job has quite a few differing factors which make some parts of them less challenging but also more challenging than others. Part time jobs require much more effort than they often may seem like.

If I place a job at a grocery store vs. a corporate job side by side and asked which is easier, a good amount of people would claim that the grocery store job is easier.

As someone who has been through part-time jobs and freelance jobs I can definitely vouch for the fact that neither is easy; practically and realistically speaking, each have their pros and cons.

Let’s put it this way: For someone who has pains in their arms, a desk job might be easier than one which involves heavy lifting. On the other side, for someone who needs to be active, they may find a job that requires lot of movement, such as a retail job, more ideal.

The majority of us are working or actively looking for work so I’m sure we can all agree on the fact that for jobs which pay less and the $ does not match up to our skills and experience level, we are less likely to take it on.

However, some people need to. Not everyone is in a position and fortunate to be able to have a choice to deny a job because the pay is not what they are expecting.

People have claimed that a McDonald’s job and a Walmart job are “too easy” and “small.” There’s quite a few points which you may not have considered.

Imagine interacting to hundreds of customers and them disrespecting you for invalid reasons. A product which clearly says it cannot be returned and is on final sale, imagine a customer yelling and creating a scene for that. A beach chair - one which CLEARLY has sand on it - someone throwing a fit to have it returned claiming that they haven’t used it. A male customer hitting on a woman just trying to scan his items.

Those were only a few!

Point is - No job is easy and no job is small. Consider every worker equal - we’re all working, whether that’s for ourselves, a company, startup, or freelancing. Do not judge someone based on the job or the amount of money they have. See what really matters - who they really are as a person 💜
