Men: You CAN Cry

“Come on, bro! Chill out, be a man!” “Don’t cry like a girl!”
So you’re telling me in humans, only women have emotions and feelings? Women are the only sex that are allowed to show emotion?

Why has society created this image that men cannot show emotion?
Someone passes away: “don’t cry, you need to be strong.” Goes through a breakup: “don’t cry, you’ll find another girl.” Watches an emotion film: “you’re crying over a movie? You’re a child.” What about saying: “it’s okay to not be okay, you can cry. I’m here for you.”
It is statistically proven that men are more less likely to speak out about how they are feeling regarding their physical and mental health than women.
Do you have a VALID reason as to why men shouldn’t cry? Why society has made it so standard for women to be able to release their emotions, whereas men are told “be a man”?
Listen society: HUMANS (Women AND men) - have emotions. PEOPLE - can cry. That doesn’t make them not strong. They are simply releasing parts of their feelings and FEELING them rather than keeping them internalized.
Listen men: You can cry. You can show emotion. You can tell your friends and family how you feel. You’re in no way wrong for doing so. You don’t need to ask for permission to cry. You don’t need to be ashamed - you’re a human. Please don’t internalize how you’re feeling. Talk to friends and family, a therapist, or a professional, please don’t feel that you need to hide your feelings. Crying doesn’t make you any less of a “man.”
I’m proud of you 🤍
